YOU CAN’T LOSE CHRIST!

When it comes to deal breakers in modern theology, this one is undoubtedly the biggest of them all. What is it? The false doctrine of losing your salvation. Yes you heard me right. It is incorrect to believe that a Christian can lose their salvation. There are many things that may be good about some of the teachers you may listen to but if their doctrine of salvation states that it can be lost, you may want to consider changing the channel so to speak.

There are several verses in the Bible that show that salvation can never be lost. Without this assurance Christianity is no different to Islam who believe that if their good works outweigh their bad works they will make it to heaven. Without the security of eternal salvation there is no foundation upon which the gospel of grace can be built.

Rather than take my word for it, let’s look at the Word of God to see what it has to say for itself.

For God so loved the world that He gave his only son that WHOEVER believes in Him shall not PERISH but shall HAVE everlasting life. (John 3:16)

Everlasting or eternal life is for all those who believe in Jesus. Anyone who does not believe does not get eternal life. For the believer it is a gifted automatically at salvation. The life we have we were given.

John 10:28-29 in the AMPC says And I give them eternal life, and they shall NEVER lose it or PERISH throughout the ages. [To all eternity they shall never by any means be destroyed.] And no one is able to snatch them out of My hand. My Father, Who has given them to Me, is greater and mightier than all [else]; and no one is able to snatch [them] out of the Father’s hand.

Did you see it? They shall NEVER lose it or perish speaking of the gift of eternal life. If every Christian just took Jesus at His word on this one verse alone, we would eradicate the false narrative of losing your salvation. Still not convinced? Remember for something to become doctrinal is must be supported by at least one more scripture. We have already achieved this but let’s continue.

Hebrews 7:25 AMPC seems to reinforce this thought ‘Therefore He is able also to save to the UTTERMOST (completely, perfectly, finally, and for all time and eternity) those who come to God through Him, since He is always living to make petition to God and intercede with Him and intervene for them.’

So Jesus saves to the uttermost for all time and eternity with absolute finality. Again this doesn’t sound like a temporary or conditional arrangement does it?

Look at Jude 1:24 ‘Now to Him Who is able to keep you without stumbling or slipping or falling, and to present [you] unblemished (blameless and faultless) before the presence of His glory in triumphant joy and exultation [with unspeakable, ecstatic delight]—‘

He presents us blameless and faultless before the Father. This means that it is based on His performance and not mine. No wonder we can never be disqualified when it is His qualifications we are standing in.

In Colossians 1:22 the Holman Christian standard Bible echoes this reality ‘But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, FAULTLESS, and BLAMELESS before Him’—

This is the best news that any child of God or potential child of God can ever hear. God is not expecting you to stand before Him in our own righteousness or according to our own works.

If those in Christ are born of the Spirit, how then can we be unborn? Just as it is impossible in the natural, it’s impossible in the spiritual. If we had no part in it except for receiving it, how can we ever mess it up? Thankfully we are incapable of reversing our salvation. This in itself, is the mercy and grace of God in operation.

I hope that you have been encouraged by what God has plainly said in His Word regarding the undeniable truth that salvation is eternal and therefore will last forever. Don’t be deceived or fear mongered into the idea that it can ever be lost.

Rest in the salvation that is yours in Christ and as Jesus said in John 10:10 AMPC ‘The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it [a]overflows).’

I’m smiling with gratitude as I write these next words; YOU CAN’T LOSE CHRIST!
