UNDER THE FEET OF CHRIST

And He has put all things under His feet and has appointed Him the universal and supreme Head of the church [a headship exercised throughout the church], Which is His body, the fullness of Him Who fills all in all [for in that body lives the full measure of Him Who makes everything complete, and Who fills everything everywhere with Himself]. Ephesians 1:22-23 (AMPC)

Lucifer was created to minister to Adam. He was created to be Adam’s servant. He was not in heaven previously and was thrown down as many still believe. Ezekiel 28:13a says ‘you were in Eden the garden of God’ speaking about Lucifer. Ezekiel 28:15a says something insightful. ‘You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created’. From these two scriptures we can see that Lucifer was created in time in Eden. He was never thrown down from heaven because he was never there.

Two things to note here. Firstly, all of creation is a function of time. The only One outside time is God Almighty. The uncreated creator of all things. The timeless, self existent One. Secondly, Lucifer was an angel and God needs no assistance from anyone ever, so the creation of angels was for man and never for God.

In Job 38:4 God says to Job, ‘where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?’In verses 6 & 7, God continues ‘On what were its footings set, or who laid its cornerstone, while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?’This tells us something remarkable. The angels were created after time began because space and matter can only exist within the framework of time. Therefore no angel was ever created before Genesis 1:1.

We have established that Lucifer along with the other angels were created to take orders from Adam and all angels were created in time and not before. God is the only being that lives outside of time, space and matter. The problem came when Lucifer the servant gave instructions to Adam the master and Adam obeyed. That transaction reversed the roles between Adam and Lucifer which caused sin to enter into the world. Adam then died and Lucifer became Satan.

Stay with me because we’re going somewhere. When Jesus Christ stripped Satan of all his power and authority that Adam willingly gave him through disobedience or sin, the first thing He did was put Satan back under the feet of Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12 says ‘For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.’ This tells us that Christ is a body. Verse 27 makes it clear, ‘Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.’

Did you see that? The collective of believers make up the Body of Christ and Jesus who is the head of the Body called Christ, has placed Satan under the feet of the church, the ecclesia i.e. the body of Christ. Why? Because he left his first estate as the servant of mankind through Adam’s sin but the second Adam Jesus Christ has restored the order for those who are in Christ. Jesus put Satan back where he belongs and was always created to be; under the feet of man. In Christ this has become a reality.

So what does this mean for you? If you have not received Christ then you are separated from God and connected to Satan. If you have received Christ you are reconciled to God and connected to Jesus. This means that everything that sin produced: death, disease, fear and every debilitating negative force is under your feet. No wonder Jesus said ‘behold I give you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the ability of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt you’

‘He has put all things under His feet’. If you’re in Christ, He’s talking about YOU!

APPLICATION

Make up your mind that you will walk through this world with the mindset that you are more than a conqueror and that Satan is a defeated enemy in your life.
