Yet amid all these things we are more than conquerors and gain a surpassing victory through Him Who loved us. Romans 8:37 (AMPC)
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith. 1 John 5:4 (NKJV)
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. 1 John 4:4 (KJV)
When David defeated Goliath there was an agreement made that whoever’s champion won in one on one combat, the opposing army and indeed nation would become their servants. What most don’t realise is because David was anointed by Samuel the prophet, he was a type of Christ to Israel.
Jesus Christ defeated Satan and all his demonic forces through the triumph of the cross. Satan was the champion of the powers of darkness but he was no match for the Son of the living God. After Jesus conquered death and the grave He ushered in a victory that all who believe in Him would live in and enjoy as ‘more than conquerors’.
Notice Jesus was the conqueror. So how come we are also called conquerors when we didn’t do anything to secure the victory? The answer lies in our identification with Him in His death, burial and resurrection. When we believe in Jesus as God in the flesh we are now in Christ. This means that His death was our death, His burial was our burial and His resurrection was our resurrection; in Christ. In the same manner His victory is then our victory!
The fact of the matter is in Christ we have surpassed conquering because there is nothing left to conquer that Jesus did not conquer and no spirit left to overcome that Jesus has not already overcome. In the spirit realm, everyone and everything is subject to you because of your reigning champion Jesus Christ. This is why we are ‘more than conquerors’ in this world.
Remember what Jesus said? You are of God little children and HAVE overcome them. Apostle John writes it in past tense. Why? Because it has already taken place. When? when you were in Him defeating Satan and his demons. This confirms the truth that there is no circumstance or situation where you have not already overcome or gained the victory in Christ.
Look at the next part ‘For greater is He that is in you than He that is n the world.’ This is so powerful! Simply put, the Holy Spirit who is Jesus without limits, is greater than any other force in this world in any realm that you will ever face. This is why we must pray in tongues to release the power that is resident within our spirit and boldly declare the Word of God over our lives.
It is up to us to appropriate the victory that is ours through our words. Words of faith and exact knowledge unleash the power for this victory to materialise. It doesn’t matter what area of life it is. It may be in your health, finances, relationships or all of the above. Don’t forget words are the bridge between the natural and the spiritual.
‘Whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world’. Anything or anyone that carries God’s D.N.A. cannot fail because God cannot fail.
What did the Master say ‘in this world you will have troubles, but be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world’. Who did He overcome the world for? Everyone; but only those in Christ can ever experience it.
Just because He conquered, overcame and gained the victory for us doesn’t mean that its effects are automatic. It is up to us to stir up the authority and power in us by the Spirit to superimpose the Word of God over our situations to make them comply and conform to the will of God.
Have the mindset of a victor and not a victim. Cheer up, you are more than a conqueror and an overcomer in this world. He said it. Believe it!
